Since graduating from St. Martins in the late 80s, Spike has been supplying his 'spiky nosed' illustrations to a whole host of clients.
A firm grounding in quick turn-around editorial work, with ridiculously short deadlines has kept his work fresh and adaptable. His thoughtful use of humour and his ability to translate the most complex of subjects into an easily digestible, and appropriate, visual form allows him to tackle the most diverse range of briefs for a wide range of clients.[show more . . .]
He has always thrived on long standing regular slots and series of illustrations. Currently he is writing and drawing the long running 'From the Vaults' cartoon strip for Occupational Health At Work and the 'Final Straw' column for ComputerActive. Spike is also very at home working in children's publishing. Spike's original and inventive world is peopled with a constantly evolving cast of characters and Heath Robinson-style machines. There are genetically challenged humanoids, be-masked animals from long abandoned gene pools and minions with a propensity for wearing full body balaclavas and hard hats.
Spike lives in North London with his partner Kaz, and their children, Ethan and Stevie. And their cats. And an apiary full of honeybees.
