Based in North London, Frances Castle has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2005 after beginning her career in the computer games industry. She is inspired by comic book art and vintage children's books from the 50's and 60's, and loves good charity shop finds of old magazines, books and packaging.[show more . . .]
In 2011, she combined her musical talents with her passion for design by setting up the boutique record label Clay Pipe Music, to create beautifully designed and illustrated, limited edition vinyl LP's which sell out within days of release.
Frances's work appeals to a broad range of editorial, design and publishing clients. She works digitally drawing straight onto her iPad Pro and then uses scanned and pre-painted textures to add depth and colour to her work. She enjoys experimenting with printmaking, particularly Gocco prints and Lino.
