Emily Fox graduated from University College Falmouth in 2013 with a first class degree in illustration. She was awarded 'Highly Commended' in the Macmillan Children's Book competition in 2012 for her picture book 'Kitty in the City'.
A keen observer of life, Emily is inspired by the people she meets and the world around her. Her main artistic influences have come from the animations she grew up watching, especially the colourful work of Disney artist, Mary Blair. Emily is particularly interested in character and background design for animation, she loves experimenting with colour and spends hours drawing in her sketchbook, mostly in her favourite blue pencil crayon. She enjoys reading funny stories but when it comes to her children's book collection, she has been known to largely look at the pictures. She relishes exploring the great outdoors and is fascinated by animals of all sizes and has a soft spot for cats.
